What Exactly is Climate Change?
Quite simply put, climate change occurs when long-term weather patterns and conditions of a region are altered. This shift in patterns can be attributed to natural causes such as variations in the sun's intensity or most importantly, human activity. A change in the variability of a region's climate is also recognized as a form of climate change.
Because of this, global warming and climate change are often used interchangeably. However, this is a misrepresentation as global warming refers exclusively to the average change in the Earth's surface temperature whereas climate change is a shift in climate including levels of precipitation, wind and other elements.
